How Does Embroidery Digitizing Work – A Complete Guide
Digitization in the sense of
machine embroidery translates illustrations into digital embroidery files. This
includes a group of talented people who consider the color, contrast, shape, and design of the inscriptions, as well as the direction, density, and
length of the points. Understanding digitalization is essential for consumers,
as it helps them distinguish between high quality and low-quality designs.
Believe it or not, most of our
models start with a good old pencil and good paper. Our experienced graphic
designers distinguish each design idea by incorporating several elements to capture
a realistic or artistic style. This is Lore's work on seductive leaves. If
you look closely, you can see in the background that your colored pencils are placed
on top of the spools of Madeira thread to make sure you are using exactly
the color you want.
What is the role of a digitizer?
Designers who select thread
colors and send the scanned image to the scanner first have a wired control
panel with the image. Great fact: when choosing a thread, designers use
Madeira's cradle box as aboard. This is because this is an excellent option
used by most embroideries and whose colors are vivid and realistic.
Subsequently, illustrations (with
schematics) are sent to a team of experienced digitizers. Here the drawings are
interpreted in embroidery patterns. Things like direction, density, and point
length are determined. Another important element is to ensure that the patterns
in the embroidery machine work correctly with minimal thread breakage. Do
not be fooled, embroidery digitizing is an art.
Each small part of the design is drawn to obtain the right effect to capture
and reflect the light. Our scanners also learn how wire colors react to achieve
optimal shading. All these components work together to create a sewing
pattern with depth, dimensions, and life. Below is a screenshot of what the
scanners see during this process. They use their computer to draw lines in
the original work of art. Each line represents a point. The closer the
lines are, the denser the points. In the end, they receive a
computer-controlled 3D representation of the design page.
What are the steps
to digitize for embroidery?
Once you do this, the scanners
will send us here to Nancy's Notions Points. You are perfectly involved in
the quality assurance process. Embroidery experts first verify the fabric
sample, as well as the knot and hand density.
Then they examine the motif in an
embroidery program. The image on the left is a three-dimensional representation
of the pattern in the program, while the image on the right shows the same
pattern as the density map to detect possible aggregation problems (red means
high dot density, low blue density). Final adjustments are made and the design
can now be displayed.
If you have previously visited the Nancy's Notions website
or purchased a collection of Nancy's embroidery designs,
you will find that the title images are scanned images of embroidery designs
(not computer images like other merchants). We do this so you can see exactly
what you get when you use graphics on your device. We want to show you the work
we have done to give you the best possible embroidery.
